Willard Truckenmiller Obituary

Willard S Truckenmiller Jr., 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Centre Care in State College. He was born on March 14, 1933 in Hublersburg, the son of the late Willard S and Vera M. (Williams) Truckenmiller. 

On August 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Joann E. Corman, his wife of 67 years who preceded him in death in 2021. After their marriage in 1954 they set up home in Hublersburg. In 1974 they moved to Ft. Myers, Fl. until Jr. retired and they moved back to Pennsylvania.

He is survived by four children Diane (Jim) Heckman of Hublersburg, Ken Truckenmiller of Ft. Myers, Fl., Terry (Dani) Truckenmiller of Jennings, Fl., and Stan (Cathy) Truckenmiller of Hublersburg; a sister Betty Guyer; a sister in-law Patricia Thompson, 8 grandchildren, Jodi Snook, Kalley (Brett) Boehmer, Kyle, Kole, Chris (Lynn), Kareen and Keena Truckenmiller, Jennifer Morris (Lois), John Rhodes and Lisa Lose; 22 great grandchildren, Jimmy and Kirsten Snook, Logan and Lexi Cole, Landon Jordan, Michaela Truckenmiller, Layla Awad, Brock and Brady Klein, Karter Truckenmiller, Khloe and Kayden Truckenmiller, Brailey Boehmer, Tommy and Ayla Truckenmiller, Brody, Brea, Piper and Willow Truckenmiller, Ashley, Miranda and Garrett Dashem, and a great-great-granddaughter Evelyn Snook. 

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren Kerri and Willard. 

Willard graduated from Walker Township High School as Valedictorian. During his working career he worked locally for Weis Markets, Bellefonte, for 13 years, C-Cor Electronics, State College, for 9.5 years and also installed and did repairs for Hublersburg Cable. While residing in Ft. Myers Fl. he was a Chief Engineer for Southern Cablevision and retired with 23 years of service and volunteered for ECHO before returning back to Pennsylvania. He also delivered for Meals on Wheels and helped at a tax office in Mill Hall.

Willard was a man of many talents. He played semi-professional baseball before marrying Joann, and continued to use that talent throughout his life, playing softball in a 50+ softball league and even went to Italy to play. He shared his love of baseball with all his children and grandchildren. He also loved lapidary, making beautiful jewelry out of gemstones and rocks that he collected, oftentimes gifting or selling his creations to family and friends. He was even generous enough to donate some of his collection to the Earth and Mineral Science Museum of Penn State. Willard also found joy in admiring nature with many years of camping and even traveling and camping out west. 

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2pm at the Trinity Reformed Church 335 Hublersburg Rd. Bellefonte, with Pastor Keith Koch and Paster Mike Covalt will both be officiating. Friends will be received at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at Hublersburg Cemetery.
