Kline Wolf Obituary

Kline Richard Wolf, 77, of Howard passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023.  He was born September 3, 1945, to Ruth Reiber Wolf and Richard Kane Wolf. He was given the nickname “Skip” by his grandfather, Kline R Wolf. 

Skip was a 1963 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He also graduated from the Williamsport School of Commerce, the Toledo School of Meat Cutting, and served six years in the United States Army Reserve in Bellefonte, PA. 

On June 24, 1967, at the Beech Creek Presbyterian Church, he married the former Jeanne Clark. They would have celebrated their fifty-sixth anniversary this year.

Skip was the fourth of five generations to own and operate his family’s business, Wolf’s Market, in Howard. He began working at the store at a very early age pecking potatoes.  He celebrated the market’s 100-year anniversary in June of 1989 and retired in 2002. 

In 2019 and 2020 Skip was recognized for his fifty-year memberships in the Jaffe Shrine and the Bellefonte Lodge No. 268 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Bellefonte Elks, the Howard Lions Club, the Juniata Valley Council of Boy Scouts of America, and the Howard Fire Co. #14 where he participated with the EMS, the fire police, and the Punkin Chunkin solicitations.  He spent many hunting seasons and social gatherings with friends and family at his favorite places~ Camp Mill Branch and the Council Run Hunting Camp, of which he was a third-generation member. He was a life- long member of the Howard United Methodist Church. In 2018 he was instrumental in renaming the Howard causeway bridge the Howard Area Veterans Bridge. 

Skip is survived by his wife Jeanne and their three sons and their families: Kline R “Kip” and Alta, Ashlee and Brian Kochik and children Bowen and Locklyn; Joshua and children Joulia, Alexander and Nadia; Matthew and Shannon and children Kane, Jackson, and Ariel, Tanner and Jameson Commerer. He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Dixon and Marsha Rutherford and their families and stepbrother, Barrett Couples and his family. He was predeceased in death by his parents and stepmother, June Couples Wolf. 

A memorial service will be held this fall and his ashes will be scattered at his favorite hunting camps. No. 14, PO Box 276, 341 Walnut Street Howard, PA 16841.

The family thanks Centre Care of Bellefonte, PA for the kind and compassionate care given to Skip while he was a resident there.
