Horace James McCloskey

Horace “Jim” McCloskey 95, of Howard, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at his home surrounded by his caregiver Barbara Snook and her family Lynn (Evon) Snook, Hunter Snook, Valorie Wagner and Brenda Rogers.

He was born on January 3, 1928, to the late Grover and Hazel McCloskey. 

Jim’s working career was a combination of farming and working for Cerro, until retiring from Cerro. However, Jim loved farming so much that he continued to farm his land until the very last year of his life. 

Jim was also a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country. 

He is survived by a son Jeffery Heavely of Bellefonte, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Glen, June, Charles, and Franklin; 2 sisters, Lulu Singer, and Elsie Packer; as well as 2 daughters, Viola Calhoun and Connie Reitmeyer.

Family and friends will be received for a time of visitation from 2-4PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Singer Kader Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 135 W Main St. Howard, PA 16841. At the request of the family there will be no graveside services. Interment will take place at Schenck’s Cemetery.
