Dean Brungart Obituary

Dean A. Brungart, formerly of Blanchard, went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on
April 19, 2023, while a resident of Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home. Dean was born to John and
Mame Wert-Brungart on January 13, 1931. He met his beautiful bride, Ethel Watkins, fell in
love and married June 23, 1953. Dean was a man after God’s own heart, he loved his Lord.
Dean and Ethel, along with Dave and Beulah Brungart (brothers married sisters), traveled on
weekends to different churches, sharing their gift of music - better known as The Brungart Trio.
Dean had a strong tenor voice and loved to sing songs about Jesus. One of his favorite songs
they sang (and there were many), was “Going Home”. Dean went home Wednesday morning
at 7:15 am! What a wonderful reunion he is having with his sweetheart, family and many
friends!
Dean served in the US Army from August 02, 1954 until July 10, 1056. He served in Italy, where
he and Ethel had their first born, Arlene. She was only 6 months old when Dean was deported
to the US. After returning, he worked on the Bartholemew Farm. He also worked a short time
at Piper Aircraft, but spent most of his working life at Macke Vending Company.
Dean served his Lord by teaching Sunday School for 30 plus years, church board member,
church treasurer, and also preached at Summit Hill Wesleyan Church for 15 months when the
church was conducting a search for a pastor.
Dean is survived by his children – Arlene (Kenny) Stephens, Fred (Amanda) Brungart, Vanita
(Tim) Watson and Mark (Michele) Brungart. He is survived by his grandchildren – Shannon
(Chris) Copeland, Jonathan (Danyelle) Brungart, Mark Brungart, Tyler (Lyndsey) Mikesell and
Austin Brungart. Also, surviving is his step-grandchildren – Devon (Seth) MacDonald, Aly
MacDonald and Olivia (Mike) MacDonald. He so loved his surviving 9 great-grandchildren –
Matthew and Benjamin Copeland, Callie and Haley Brungart, Colton Hoffman and Elise
Brungart, Emma and Camryn Mikesell and Finley Miller. Dean loved family and he prayed
daily for each of them.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; his parents, John and Mame Brungart. He also
was preceded by his siblings – Clair (Betty) Brungart, Merrill (Mariam) Brungart, Roy (Grace and
