Blanche Emily Schenck

Blanche Emily Schenck went to be with our Lord and Savior on Oct. 13, 2023, just seven days before her 99th birthday. She was a lifelong resident of Blanchard, Pa. but spent the past five years at Haven Place, Lock Haven, Pa.

Blanche was born on Oct. 20, 1924 in Blanchard to the late John and Lulu Gardner Williams. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1942. Blanche was strong in her faith and a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church, Blanchard, Pa.

On May 27, 1945, she married the love of her life, Joseph H. Schenck. They shared 53 years of marriage before his passing on Jan. 7, 1999.

Blanche will be deeply missed by her daughter and best friend, Cathy McCloskey and favorite son-in-law, Terry McCloskey; grandchildren, Brad and Carey McCloskey and Tara (McCloskey) and Kyle Miller; great-grandchildren, Cayde, Kaylie and Alexa McCloskey. In addition to several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, Blanche is survived by a special niece, Connie Shady who was always there for her.

Blanche was a homemaker who welcomed and cared for children in her home for many years. She was very proud to babysit her great-grandchildren into her 90’s. Blanche enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, board games and word searches. She was a great cook, and she made the world’s best pancakes. She loved visiting with family and friends, especially on her porch.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Walter, William and Bruce Williams; two sisters, Dorothy Brungard and Jane McClure. Blanche is also survived by a sister-in-law, Relda Williams.

The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Place and the Gate House for taking such precious care of Blanche.

At Blanche’s request, a private service will be held on Oct. 17, 2023 at Singer-Kader-Neff Funeral Home with Pastors Russel Moldovan and Wally Kocher officiating.
